All right folks, after 54 years, human beings finally return to the Moon today!

That’s right, today is Lunar Flyby Day for the Artemis II astronauts.

Of course, as you guys probably already know, I’m gonna be watching the hell out of this thing today. So if I’m difficult to reach or slow to respond today, that’s way.

But then you guys knew that already, didn’t you?

I do, however, have one big piece of great 4K Ultra HD news to share with you all today.

Remember how we first told you (way back in December) about Warner’s catalog 4K Ultra HD plans for 2026 (link here)?

Well, another one of those titles is now officially up for pre-order on Amazon UK, and it’s none other than Tim Burton’s Mars Attacks! (1996).

In announcement news today, MVD Entertainment has revealed that they’re releasing Tenacious D: The Complete Masterworks – Volume 3 on Blu-ray and DVD on 10/3. It will feature their a complete 16-track concert from their 2023 Spicy Meatball Tour recorded in London’s O2 Arena, along with the band’s animated film Post Apocalypto and music videos for ...Baby One More Time, Wicked Game, Video Games, Fiber d’Lish, Tenacious D’s The Who Medley, You Never Give Me Your Money/The End, and Time Warp. Now then, the big announcement news today is that Walt Disney Home Entertainment, 20th Century Studios, and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment have announced the long-awaited 4K Ultra HD release of Jim Sharman’s The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) on October 7th! The film is of course based on the musical by Richard O’Brian, and the release is happening in honor of the film’s 50th anniversary. [Read on here...]

Now then, the big announcement news today is that Universal has just officially set Gareth Edwards’ Jurassic World: Rebirth (2025) for release on Blu-ray, DVD, 4K Ultra HD, and 4K Steelbook on 9/9, with the Digital version available as of today. The 4K will be a 100GB disc featuring Dolby Vision and HDR10 with Dolby Atmos audio. [Read on here...]

I had actually planned a full news update today, but I burned the hell out of one of my fingers while making lunch earlier this afternoon, and unfortunately typing has been very much out of the question since then.

In terms of catching up with more recent title announcements today, let’s start with the big news first: Director Kevin Smith revealed in his Hall H panel on Saturday night down at San Diego Comic-Con that Lionsgate is going to be releasing his newly-remastered Dogma (1999) on Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD later this year! (You can watch video of Smith confirming this here on X.) The street date is TBA, but our sources say there will lots of great new extras and there should be both an exclusive 4K Steelbook version from Lionsgate Limited as well as a wide-release 4K SKU. The Digital Bits and History, Legacy & Showmanship are pleased to present this retrospective commemorating the golden anniversary of the release of The Towering Inferno, Irwin Allen’s popular production about a fire in a San Francisco skyscraper.

Based upon the novels The Tower by Richard Martin Stern and The Glass Inferno by Thomas N. Scortia and Frank M. Robinson, the 20th Century-Fox/Warner Bros. co-production was directed by John Guillermin (The Blue Max, King Kong [1976]) and featured an all-star cast headed by Steve McQueen (Bullitt), Paul Newman (Cool Hand Luke), William Holden (Sunset Boulevard), and Faye Dunaway (Network). And Stuart has offered his take on Giulio Petroni’s Death Rides a Horse (1967) on Blu-ray from Kino Lorber Studio Classics, Piero Regnoli’s The Playgirls and the Vampire (1960) on Blu-ray from Vinegar Syndrome, and Éric Rohmer’s The Aviator’s Wife (1981) on Blu-ray from Kino Lorber proper.

Discovery Home Entertainment has just revealed that they’re releasing Friends: The Complete Series in 4K Ultra HD—no kidding—on 9/24, in honor of the series’ 30th anniversary! We don’t have any other details yet, but the set is now available for pre-order on Amazon for SRP $249.99 (click here for the link). We expect an official press release any day now. Tim’s take on Halloween II (1981) and Halloween III (1982) on Blu-ray from Via Vision Entertainment, as well as Hanna-Barbera’s animated Rockin’ with Judy Jetson (1988) on Blu-ray from the Warner Archive Collection.

In announcement news today, we have a few things to report. First, Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment has made Jan de Bont’s Twister (1996) official for 4K Ultra HD and 4K UHD Steelbook release on 7/9. As we’ve reported previously, look for Dolby Atmos audio, HDR10 high dynamic range, the new The Legacy of Twister: Taken by the Wind retrospective featurette with the director, and the legacy Blu-ray and DVD extras. You can see the cover artwork at left and also below.

Warner Bros. has also set Luca Guadagnino’s Challengers (2024) for Blu-ray and DVD release on 7/9, for Amazon MGM Studios. There’s no indication of special features on the release.

But we’re not yet done with Warner & MGM. Though they haven’t officially been announced yet, the studios have also just listed John G. Avildsen’s Rocky V (1990) and Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky Balboa (2006) for 4K Ultra HD Steelbook release on 7/16. The latter will include both the original Theatrical Version and Stallone’s new Director’s Cut. Both will offer HDR10 high dynamic range and DTS-HD Master Audio. Also listed for release that same day is a brand new Rocky: Ultimate Knockout Collection in 4K, which we expect will include Rocky, Rocky II, Rocky III, Rocky IV, Rocky V, and Rocky Balboa.
