Well… there’s not much happening in the home video industry for the rest of this week it appears. With the Thanksgiving holiday upon us, the studios seem to have shut down for the rest of the week.

Okay… we’ve got a few pretty cool things to report today that should kick off July in high style!

First, here at the site today we have a couple of new columns. Todd Doogan has posted his weekly Doogan’s Queue column running down this week’s latest Blu-ray and DVD releases. Our very own Dr. Adam Jahnke has also delivered his weekly Burnt Offerings: MOD DVD column, detailing the latest hand-crafted deep catalog titles from Warner Archive and the Sony Pictures Choice Collection.

Speaking of Jahnke, he’s also turned in a review of Warner’s new 300: Rise of an Empire Blu-ray. Sounds as though the film is exactly what you’d expect. The review is a good read, so do give it a look. [Read on here…]

Tim Salmons has checked in with reviews of a pair of Wes Anderson films on Blu-ray, including Criterion’s upgrade of The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou and Fox’s brand new The Grand Hotel Budapest. They’re two of my favorites and come highly recommended by both myself and Tim, so do check them out. Afternoon, folks! Hope you all enjoyed your long holiday weekend here in the States. Or, for the rest of you, that you had a decent Monday as such things go. Release news is a little slow today, given the long weekend, but we do have a couple things for you today.

First, as we suggested would happen back in March, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has just set the excellent Jodorowsky’s Dune documentary for Blu-ray Combo release on 7/8. The only extra to expect will be deleted scenes. Regardless, this one is totally worth your time if you’re a fan of 70-80 cinema, science fiction, and or the work of director Alejandro Jodorowsky. Trust us, it’s a little gem. [Read on here…]

All right, here at The Bits today, our own Tim Salmons has checked in with a review of Eric Weston’s Evilspeak (1981) now available on Blu-ray from our friends at Scream Factory.
