We’ve got three new disc reviews to share with you today here at The Bits, including...

My in-depth look at George P. Cosmatos, Kurt Russell, and Kevin Jarre’s legendary Western Tombstone (1993) in 4K Ultra HD from Disney via Sony Pictures Home Entertainment! And praised be, they nailed the remastering—it was worth the wait!

Also, we have Stephen’s thoughts on Anthony Mann’s Winchester ‘73 (1953), another fine Western in 4K Ultra HD from Universal via the Criterion Collection.

And finally, Stuarts take on Larry David’s Curb Your Enthusiasm (1999-2024) on DVD from HBO via Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment.

More reviews are forthcoming, so be sure to check back for them. We’ve also just updated our Release Dates & Artwork section here at The Bits with all the latest Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD cover artwork and Amazon.com pre-order links. As always, a portion of anything you order from Amazon after clicking to them through one of our links goes to help support our work here at The Bits and we really appreciate it!

Now then... in announcement news today, Marvel and Disney have just officially set Julius Onah’s Captain America: Brave New World (2024) for release on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD on 5/13, with the Digital release expected next week on 4/15. The 4K disc will include Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos audio. The 4K + Blu-ray SKU will be available in both wide release and Steelbook packaging. There will also be a Walmart-exclusive Blu-ray with “pop-up” packaging. And there will be a Captain America: 4-Movie Collection released on Blu-ray and DVD, as well as Digital that same day. You can see the cover artwork for some of the various physical disc SKUs above left and also below.

Also today, Paramount has set Dan Berk and Robert Olsen’s Novocaine (2025) for release on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD on 6/24, with the Digital release now available. The discs will each include 3 featurettes (Prepare for Pain: Pre-Production, A World of Hurt: Production, and Maximum Physical Damage: Makeup Effects).

Kino Lorber Studio Classics has revealed that a pair of films are coming soon to Blu-ray, including José Giovanni’s Boomerang (1976) and Georges Lautner’s Cop or Hood (1979). Also coming to Blu-ray on 6/10 is the Audie Murphy Collection V (1950-1954), which will include Jesse Hibbs’ Walk the Proud Land (1956), Harry Keller’s Seven Ways from Sundown (1960), and Robert G. Springsteen’s Bullet for a Badman (1964).

Eureka! in the UK has just announced Po-Chih Leong’s Hong Kong 1941 (1984) for Blu-ray release on 6/17 as part of its Masters of Cinema Series. The film stars Chow Yun-fat, Cecilia Yip, and Alex Man.

Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment and HBO have just set The White Lotus: The Complete Third Season for DVD only release on 9/9, including all 8 episodes plus bonus content.

Sony has just announced that Bernard MacMahon’s Becoming Led Zeppelin (2025) documentary is now available on Digital. We’re still awaiting word of a physical media release, which we do suspect is forthcoming.

And while it’s still not yet officially announced, Warner Bros. Discover Home Entertainment, SDS, Amazon, and MGM Studios have finally listed a title we’ve all known was coming for months, the 007: James Bond – Sean Connery 6-Film 4K Ultra HD Collection, for pre-order on Amazon with a street date of 6/10. And we finally have official cover artwork! There will be a pair of 4K SKUs, including one in a wide release plastic Elite case (SRP $104.98) and also a Limited Edition Steelbook Library Case (SRP $139.99). Each will include Terence Young’s Dr. No (1962), From Russia with Love (1963), and Thunderball (1965), Guy Hamilton’s Goldfinger (1964) and Diamonds Are Forever (1971), and Lewis Gilbert’s You Only Live Twice (1967) in 4K UHD. And here’s good news: It appears that all will include Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos audio! We don’t yet know if there’s been any kind of new 4K scans or remastering beyond what’s already been available on Digital, but we hope to have that clarity soon. In the meantime, here’s a look at the final cover artwork (click on the images to visit the Amazon pre-order pages)...

And finally today, here’s something cool: There’s a great new documentary by Eric Kimelton and Christopher Ninness called Not Just a Goof (2024) that takes a look back at the making of Kevin Lima’s animated A Goofy Movie (1995)! It’s now streaming on Disney+ and it looks pretty terrific. Here’s a peek at the trailer...

Back later tonight worth more! Stay tuned...
